Open Source

Open source is a decentralized development model that encourages open collaboration. Source code, blueprints, recipes and other documents are freely available to the public. Here I cover mostly open source in computer software context but open source is not limited to that.
Encourage others to fix issues. Don't fix a reported issues right away even if would take you one minute. Ask the reporter to do it, maybe accompanied with a small guidance.
Give contributors shout outs on Twitter whenever it feels natural. Little appreciation goes a long way.
README, guides and documentation are important.
Common reasons why companies do open source?
- Community sees us closed and not "cool".
- We don't have enough people for this.
- We don't have enough skill and can't hire this kind of skill.
- They get money another way e.g. workshops or consulting in that open source tech.
